First success

Checked the radishes last night and some are starting to show! Considering they have been pounded with rain for the last week I'm quite chuffed. Although I think I may have gone a bit over the top when I planted them - looks like I'm going to have a lot of radishes in a few weeks.

Lots of seeds etc were ordered yesterday so hopefully I'll have busy weekend, weather permitting.

First Entry

Welcome to my blog. Here I will be posting updates mainly on my attempts at growing various vegetables etc in my tiny garden and occasional other snippets of amusement. I'm also trying various other things in the general theme of self sufficiency such as baking my own bread, etc.

Here is a picture of the garden as it is now -

So far there is a a pot in the corner which you can just see on the far left behind the trampoline. It contains strawberry and pepper plants which are just beginning to show signs of fruit. The pot on the fence contains a mint plant.

Also I have caroot, spinach and radish seeds that were sown last weekend. Lots more will be sown this weekend, including spring onions and potatoes. I'm also aiming to try growing a tea tree.

I have a parsley plant indoors, some of which is now being dried as it's growing faster than I can use it. The basement of the house appears to match descriptions of a typical root cellar so I might try storing some veg down there when it's harvested and see what happens.
